This theoretical framework elucidates the author’s degree of adherence to or deviation from conventional norms; neglecting it inevitably hinders a full understanding of the work’s relationship with literary tradition. The approach proves particularly significant in detective fiction—a genre governed by strict formal rules—where the examination of structural and generic patterns distinguishes simple repetition of formulaic devices from genuine artistic innovation. Through such analysis, the author’s engagement with form becomes a foundation for comprehensive interpretation.<br><br>The Crime Thriller Elephant in the Darkness, written by Ghasem Hasheminejad, exemplifies a detective novel that meticulously observes the conventions of its genre and thus warrants close scholarly scrutiny. Employing a genre‑analytical perspective, this study explores the harmony between the novel’s structural design and its thematic conception. Hasheminejad achieves a sophisticated coordination between generic features and content, constructing a coherent system in which overt and underlying elements interact organically. His rigorous compliance with crime‑thriller conventions—such as archetypal characterization, systematic clue arrangement, the psychological portrayal of the detective, depictions of violence and fatalism, and pursuit sequences—enables the communication of a unified thematic vision. Moreover, the incorporation of genre‑specific atmosphere, descriptive precision, and symbolic objects reinforces central motifs and guides readers through the narrative’s progression.<br><br>Ultimately, Elephant in the Darkness demonstrates how adherence to formal conventions can coexist with creative individuality, affirming the genre’s potential for profound literary expression beyond mere repetition. مطالعات ژانری، کارکرد ساختاری قالب‌های ادبی را در بازتولید یا نقد گفتمان مسلط مورد پرسش قرار می‌دهد؛ این چارچوب تحلیلی، وفاداری یا گسست نویسنده از سنت‌های معمول را در سطح بنیادین آشکار می‌سازد و بی‌توجهی به آن، فهم رابطۀ اثر با سنت ادبی را تقلیل می‌دهد. به‌ویژه در رمان جنایی، که مبتنی بر قراردادهای سخت‌گیرانه است، کاوش در ساختارهای گونه‌شناسانه امکان تفکیک میان تکرار کلیشه‌ها و ابداعات ساختاری نویسنده را فراهم می‌آورد، تا از این رهگذر، بهره‌گیری او از فرم به منزلۀ زیربنایی برای فهم عمیق‌تر اثر سنجیده شود. رمان تریلر جنایی فیل در تاریکی نوشتۀ قاسم‌هاشمی‌نژاد از جمله رمان‌های پلیسی مطرحی است که قواعد ژانر را به‏درستی رعایت کرده، و از این حیث، شایستگی مطالعه و تحلیل‎ علمی دقیق را داراست. در این مقاله کوشیده‌ایم با رویکرد تحلیلِ ژانری این اثر، هماهنگی میان اجزا و فرم را در راستایِ القای مفهوم و معنا نشان دهیم. در این رمان، هماهنگی میان مشخصه‎های ژانری و درونمایۀ داستان به شکلی چیره‌دستانه و با مهارت صورت گرفته‎است و اجزا و عناصر آشکار و پنهان متن با یکدیگر در تعامل و تفاهم قرار دارند. به‎علاوه، هاشمی‎نژاد، قواعدِ ژانر تریلر جنایی مانند خلق شخصیت‌های ژانری، چینش سرنخ‌ها، شخصیت‌پردازی کارآگاه، نمایشِ خشونت و تقدیرگرایی و تعقیب‌وگریز را به‎خوبی رعایت کرده‏است تا درونمایه و پیامی واحد را به خواننده القا کند. هم‎چنین نویسنده برای تأکید بر درونمایه‌ای خاص، عناصر ژانری، فضاسازی، توصیفات و اشیای تأییدکننده را در داستان جا می‌دهد تا خواننده را در پیشبرد داستان با خود همراه کند.
