It can be applied both to a certain Nineteenth-Century literary movement and to a style in storytelling which endeavors to, as far as possible, depict life as it really is. This article tries to investigate the features of Realism after briefly going through different interpretations of the term and various approaches to analyzing Realistic works. So firstly, Realism has been explored as a historical concept as opposed to Romanticism and then its features have been presented. Following that, the social essence of the author’s weltanschauung reflected in Realistic works, and the radical ideological approach of Social Realism have been expounded. Based upon scholar’s opinions, verisimilitude in Realism has been evaluated in two sections: verisimilitude in relation to society and verisimilitude related to literary texts. And finally the views of the opponents and critics of Realism have been briefly held out. رئالیسم از اصطلاحاتی است که در ادبیات و نقد ادبی معانی مختلفی دارد. این اصطلاح هم بر جریان ادبی خاص قرن نوزدهم دلالت دارد و هم به‌منزله سبکی از داستان­نویسی به‌کار می‌رود که زندگی را تا حد ممکن، به همان صورت که در جهان واقع جریان دارد، ترسیم می‌کند. در این مقاله ‌کوشیده‌‌ایم پس از بیان مختصرِ تلقی­های گوناگون از رئالیسم و شیوه‌های مختلف بررسی متون رئالیستی، ویژگی­های رئالیسم را بررسی کنیم. به این منظور، ابتدا رئالیسم به‌منزله مفهومی تاریخی را درمقابل رمانتیسم ‌کاویده و ویژگی­های آن را بیان ‌کرده‌‌ایم. در ادامه، به تبیین ماهیت اجتماعی جهان­بینی نویسنده در آثار رئالیستی و اوج نگاه ایدئولوژیک در رئالیسم سوسیالیستی پرداخته‌ایم. واقعیت­مانندی رئالیسم را در دو قسمت: واقعیت­مانندی در ارتباط با جامعه و واقعیت­مانندی مربوط به متن ادبی، با توجه به نظریات محققان بازبینی و ارزیابی کرده‌ایم. در پایان نیز آرای مخالفان و منتقدان رئالیسم را به‌‌اختصار بررسی کرده‌ایم. https://lcq.modares.ac.ir/article_18443_ff5b376f952246bd12b516e765403906.pdf
