Literary Criticism LCQ 2008-0360 2538-2179 2015 8 31 A research on the structure of the artistic text from Yuri Lotman\'s perspective‎ Masoud Algooneh Juneghani Yuri Lotman, inspired by de Saussure and Hjelmslev, and following the structural ‎methodology has put forward some innovative ideas so as to analyze the structure of the ‎artistic text. Defining art as the system of systems, Lotman points that any artistic text is a ‎secondary modelling system which is based on the primary model of language. However, ‎artistic texts, compared to natural language, convey more complex information in a smaller ‎amount of space, and consequently have a more complex structure. Hence, this article tries to ‎follow Lotman's theoretical source of thought, and at the same time to analyze his ‎argumentation in this regard. In this way it is revealed that in any artistic text, all forms gave ‎the potentiality of being semanticized, i.e. coming up to a higher level of significance. ‎Accordingly, in artistic texts more than one system is active at a time; as a result the tension ‎and confrontation between these systems leads to the reinforcement and intensification of the ‎text's significance. In the end, the author introduces a new, though little, point in the field of ‎poetic semiotics by the name of semantic ordering or the plشy of signifieds. ‎ Yuri Lotman the structure of the artistic text secondary modelling system art as the system ‎of systems semantic ordering 2015 12 01 15 39 http://lcq.modares.ac.ir/article-29-7569-en.pdf

Literary Criticism LCQ 2008-0360 2538-2179 2015 8 31 Passing through the Semiotic square of Greimas and ascending by the Semiotic Ladder fatemeh savab According to group of researchers, the semiotic square of Greimas in some of texts, has a mechanical and solid structure and doesn’t successfully represent meanings in a discourse. They believe that the tensive square is more appropriate; because it has fluid and dynamic applications. However, fluid and dynamic deep structure of a narrative can be illustrated by using of “consecutive semiotic square”; In other words, it can be shown off the processes of the meaning production in a narrative from primary meaning to ultimate meaning. In this regard, we suggest in this study a novel model, “semiotic ladder”, to analyze narratives in the lyrical genre, to discover their inner and deep structure meanings to prove dynamic feature of meaning in the semiotic square. After analysis, it was found that the process of the semiotic ladder thanks to consecutive semiotic squares, represents the displacement and fluidity of meanings in a narrative and refuse the mechanical and solid feature of squares. Finally, the application and process of the semiotic ladder is applicable and practicable in all narratives. Second, texts that publish not as titles like manifest, manifesto, Bayaniye and Etc but cause of their contents, are known among the critics as manifest of special literal current. Literary Criticism LCQ 2008-0360 2538-2179 2015 8 31 The Persuasive Model of Metaphor in the Socio-Political Discourse: Alteration, Suggestion and Consolidation of Socio-Political Perspectives Behrouz Soltani firooz fazeli It has been a few decades since the first contemporary studies about “metaphor” were carried out, and the conceptual metaphor has a special position within the different literary theories, constantly incorporating new perspectives into metaphor research in conjunction with the other fields of study. Based on the theory of cognitive metaphor, metaphors exist everywhere and essentially,it is the metaphorical structures, which affect the people’s understanding. Therefore, we encounter different questions, which include, “what’s the nature of the addressee’s relations with metaphor?”, “can metaphor be effective in persuading the people to accept or reject a certain imposed attitude?”, “which variables can increase or decrease the persuasive impact of metaphor, and what should be the features of each of these variables?” Therefore, the present essay is aimed at looking into metaphors from the view of these questions and introducing the persuasive variables of metaphor in the format of an organized model. To this end, the present study capitalizes on the literature as the theoretical backing of the model and presents the persuasive metaphor model based on Hovland’s persuasion model, exploring its variable characteristics in terms of a theoretical framework in accordance with the results of the previously done research studies. Therefore, inspired by the four variables of McGuire, Wood and Eagly, five variables have been put forward and the theoretical features of each of them have been investigated in line with the characteristics of metaphorical relationship for the persuasive communications of metaphor. These variables include a) metaphor-sender, b) metaphor-receiver, c) metaphorical structure (made of the source domain and target domain), d) communicative conduit and e) texture (location, time, etc.). In addition, we have also analyzed the interactions and exchanges of metaphor with other rhetorical strategies. metaphor-sender metaphor-receiver metaphorical structure the conduit for metaphorical communication Texture 2015 12 01 91 114 http://lcq.modares.ac.ir/article-29-1206-en.pdf

Literary Criticism LCQ 2008-0360 2538-2179 2015 8 31 Literature and the Problem of Knowledge: In Defence of Literary Cognitivism Omid Hamedani Literary cognitivism, as I understand it, comprises two theses: (1) some literary works can convey non-trivial knowledge to readers and (2) the cognitive value of a literary work is part and parcel of its aesthetic value. In this paper, I argue for the first thesis and elaborate upon the various mechanisms by means of which literary works produce propositional and non-propositional knowledge (including perspective-based knowledge, empathic or phenomenal knowledge and ability knowledge or know-how). To do so, I give a brief sketch of Plato’s anti-cognitivist epistemological objections against the epistemic status of literary works and go on to reformulate them from a modern perspective to provide a background for my epistemological inquiry. My defence of literary cognitivism welcomes different kinds of knowledge-forming mechanisms but pace thinkers such as Noam Chomsky and Martha Nussbaum who prefer the literary discourse over the philosophical or scientific discourse in that the former might sometimes provide us with a kind of knowledge that we may not find in the latter, cautiously and deliberatey averts from making such dubious claims. Literary Criticism LCQ 2008-0360 2538-2179 2015 8 31 When the writer becomes text: Textualised Subject in the short story of “The Ruined Story” written by Aboutorab Khosravi. Farzad Karimi Saeid Hesampour Abstract Ontological approach to literary texts, is not only an analysis for expressing the literary specifications of the text, but also a way to know the human being better in the society in which the story has taken place. In ontological studies, mainly the behavior of man, as a subject, with the text and with the others are searched. Actually, subjectivitation, means passing through subjectivitation and such a processing will be the basis of the ontological analysis of human being in contemporary philosophy. Applying such an analysis on a certain Persian literary text, the writer of which is well-known as a postmodern writer, may define and clear the above mentioned points. In basis of this research, the subject in postmodern Persian Literature are considered as textual subject. The textualised subject dosn't have a priority identity. Instead, it depends on the position of the textual subject. A decrease in objective specification of the subject and a raise in its subjective specification are the consequences of such a situation. This article deals with the procedure of textualisation ways, specifications of this procedure, and its results according to the content of the short story of “The Ruined Story” written by a Persian writer: Aboutorab Khosravi. “The Ruined Story” “Subjectivitation Textualisation of Subject” “Ontology” 2015 12 01 167 183 http://lcq.modares.ac.ir/article-29-12337-en.pdf
